DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENTS​

In CONGRESS, July 4, 1776

A DECLARATION

By The Representatives of the

United States OF AMERICA,

In General Congress Assembled.

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all citizens are created equal, that they are endowed with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among the Citizens, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

But, whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly, all experience has shown, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Such has been the patient sufferance of these United States’ Independent Voters; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present Two-Party System is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an Absolutism of corruption and inefficacy over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world:

  • They have refused to pass laws essential and beneficial for the public good, with a Congress gridlocked by partisan interests, thwarting the will of the people.
  • They have imposed taxes unconsented by the people by prioritizing the interests of their corporate donors over the electorate.
  • They have destabilized our democracy by absorbing and exploiting our most critical issues for their fundraising campaigns rather than enacting necessary laws.
  • They have manipulated and concentrated power within a politicized, ultra-conservative Supreme Court that ignores longstanding individual rights and freedoms.
  • They have failed to address vital national issues such as democracy preservation, fair housing, immigration reform, women’s health rights, voting rights, gun safety rights, and LGBTQ rights.
  • They have, instead of serving the public, fostered a culture of fear, frustration, and resentment amongst ordinary citizens, diminishing voter turnout and engagement.
  • They have induced a widespread distrust in the government, evident by the dismal approval ratings and staggering statistics of political disillusionment and hopelessness prevailing among the populace.
  • They have deliberately disseminated misinformation and strategic deception through social media platforms, traditional news outlets, and other channels, creating an environment where truth is obscured by a fog of conflicting information.
  • They have employed half-truths, selective data, and outright fabrications about critical issues facing society to polarize public opinion and exploit existing biases and fears, undermining meaningful debate and problem-solving.
  • They have corrupted democratic governance by systematically distorting facts and propagating falsehoods, eroding the foundational principle that an informed electorate is crucial for a healthy democracy.
  • They have attacked the credibility of critical institutions like the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the IRS, delegitimizing these agencies and eroding public confidence in their impartiality and effectiveness.

In every stage of these Oppressions, We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A political System, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyranny, is unfit to rule a free people.

We, therefore, the Representatives of the united Independent Voters of America, in General Congress, assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these States, solemnly publish and declare, That these United States’ Independent Voters are, and of Right ought to be, Free and Independent from the tyranny of the Two-Party System; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to these corrupted political entities, and that all political connection between them and the State of the Two-Party System, is and ought to be totally dissolved.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor..
